Rootsweb recently upgraded the servers for the lists At the same time they installed the latest Mailman software and this has caused various problems Some of those being the inability to post by some email clients In the last three months there were 40 posts in July, 1 in August, 2 in September and these two today I am not sure what invitation Alan R Moorehouse sent or is referred to as its not in the archives, so didn't come via the list They are still working on the posting problems so hopefully that will be fixed soon So lack of posts is down to a mixed bag of reasons, Rootsweb was down completely for a couple of weeks, the posting problems of some email clients and the usual drop in posts during the summer, along with the plethora of means of communications we have nowadays, some good (the lists) and some bad (Facebook for example) Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 05-Oct-16 8:22 PM, Nicola Pike wrote: > I have no emails for about 3 months > On Oct 5, 2016 20:20, <lr_mills@mauimail.com> wrote: > >> ----- Original Message ----- >> Hi Lou and All >> It appears I have not received Linc's List correspondence for several >> months >> until Alan R. The Mailman software changes appear to be relatively minor, but software is very unforgiving of human mistakes. > I am not sure what invitation Alan R Moorehouse sent or is referred > to as its not in the archives, so didn't come via the list This was an invitation to a family-related get-together. Hi Lou and all you Missing Lincs We have been missing our Lincolnshire List mail for some time now. The rumour is that Rootsweb has had some difficulties. The only other List I am subscribed to is SFK-UK which seems to have been affected as well but within the last few days is up and enjoying a fair bit of exchange. I'm sending this as a test to see if anyone receives it. If you do could we please regroup and get back to some exchanges or queries? Thanks Linda B.C. Canada
OK so I received a copy of my email back which is definitely a step in the right direction. Hi Lou, sorry but I have to agree with Linda, and Nicola, I have received NO messages or contact from Lincs-gen for over 4 months, I just assumed that you had switched to a different line or something, that I had no idea about.
