-snip- > How do I get a birth certificate for James Frederick Markham ?. You can't, really. Birth certificates weren't standard until Civil Registration came along in mid-1837. Best you can get is a copy of his baptism record from the church register, > Also, since this Markham family is much from Wrawby and Keelby, once I > have finished my genealogical book, at which 1-3 places could I leave a > copy of this book for keeping and preservation etc. ?. You can also try a Local Family History society, but contact them first. Many of them don't have the room to store very much. Of course, I also joke that if you publish on the Internet, it will never die. You own local library might keep a copy, but mine is so small and understaffed right now, they aren't even taking ANY donations. And don't forget the local Archives office. Again, they can be picky and unreceptive because many of them are short-staffed and running out of space. But it never hurts to ask. Especially if you can convince them that it's full of local people and events. Lou (list admin.)
The Genealogical Society in London has (or used to have) paper copies of family trees which I found very useful in the past. Also the county record offices accept items related to family history, that would be North Lincolnshire I think for you. Some one will correct me if I am wrong. They were very helpful when I wanted to get rid of a load of old Lincolnshire legal documents I had been carting around from house to house because I couldn't bear to throw them away. Also why not try Grimsby library? Jo Perkins On 17 Nov 2011, at 00:43, Louis Mills wrote: > -snip- > > >> How do I get a birth certificate for James Frederick Markham ?. > > You can't, really.
