There was also a Thomas Chant son of John & Jane in 1829 but I searched forwards from 1826, not backwards. I was unable to find a marriage for John and Jane in the old marriage index. The new one for this area is not yet available. I searched Chant, Chaunt, Caunt and Cant. I suppose it might be found under Gaunt or Gant? Didn't try those.
