    3. Hi Jeff, Stephen senior married Virtue Elizabeth Mount, September quarter 1881, Grantham registration district. Can't locate Virtue in 1881, but in 1871 she's living in Colston Bassett with parents Joseph and Sarah. Stephen in 1881 is living in Gunby, and may have married there. Gunby registers are listed as not deposited in Lincs Archives according to the post1837 marriage index http://mi.lincolnshiremarriages.org.uk/ though you will need to check as this could have altered since the index was compiled. 3. I don't have any Lincolnshire Stephens or Stephanies or any variation on the name. Maybe King Stephen wasn't popular in the county, so the name never took off.  I only know of him from my school days as a Norman, locked in a civil war with Matilda. According to Wikipedia, he was captured in Lincoln in 1141 during the war, and that must have been costly for the city- both in money and lives.. I have not many Georges either - but lots of Williams. 3. Just had a browse thru my family. I found a few generations of a Stephen Pick (1799-1850) from Bourne, his son, father, grandfather and grandson. Problem is I must verify that his wife Mary Johnson is my Mary Johnson. When I go again to the Lincolnshire Archives I will check the parish records. Mary was born in 1799 in Baston where they married on 20 December 1825. She had two children out of wedlock: Thomas and Catherine who I think were fathered by Thomas or James Perkins. Mary filed a bastardy warrant for child support. If I remember she won 10 pounds. However, on her son Thomas’ marriage certificate, he lists his mother as Mary Johnson single woman. If this is true then she’s not the same Mary Johnson. Don’t you just love this stuff. I thought soap operas were full of strange stories, nothing beats looking for your family. And that’s the fun. 3. Hi June, The Frodingham parish register was transcribed and published by Armstrong and McIntyre in the early 1970s. I remember the book covers the late 1500s to somewhere in the 1800s. I have no idea whether copies are still available - I used it considerably at one time, but then all the records seemed to get put on Familysearch, so the need for the printed sheets was less. Good luck with it all, I still remember your early searches!
