    3. Hi Renee I am interested in your Gt. Uncle who came to Canada as my father was in the timber business on Vancouver Island in B.C. and I do know a bit about the industry ...although the surname Redshaw is not familiar other than it being connected to you of course. Good to hear from you Linda A very old sticking point which went by the board in early research. Although being on the List for several years there was never a REDSHAW in sight or sound! It seemed they were very reluctant to move around and stay settled in a particular area. They still appear Lincolnshire in 1500s. The only two I found who actually moved out of Lincs was my late husband's Grandfather - a Groom - who went over the Humber to Selby Yorks as a groom and had a very large family - perhaps he got an offer he could not refuse. The other was a Gt.Uncle off to Canada, built a Timber business which still thrives today. Kind Regards, Renee Oz.

    3. Hello the list, I have an ALBERT RICHARDSON marrying a lady called EMILY ELEANOR LLOYD at the parish church in Alford in 1899. Albert was a Sergeant in the Scots Guards at the time and went to South Africa for the Second Boer War with his battalion later in 1899. I cannot find any reason for the location of this marriage as both parties came from Shorditch in London! Was there a camp nearby where ALBERT might have been in training? 3. Spilsby registration district covers a *lot* of parishes. http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/spilsby.html If you know the CofE church in which the marriage took place then it's possible that someone could look up the register at Lincoln Archives. But a lot of the smaller churches are still using registers for that period of time. If the marriage took place in a non-conformist church or chapel, then Lincoln Archives *might* have the register. If the marriage took place in Spilsby Register Office, then you will definitely have to order the marriage certificate, as the register office is the only place which has copies of its registers. Unless you know the place of marriage, then you will need to order the marriage certificate from the GRO in Southport. 3.   Hello John   Familysearch.org have a marriage between an Albert Richardson and Elsie Robinson.  It gives Alberts year of birth as 1897 and his age as 27.  This marriage took place on 23rd October 1924 at Alford.  It also gives the name of the bride and the groom's fathers.  The information is on the new part of familysearch.org.   Pat             ________________________________ From: John Richardson <jjminfiek@ntlworld.com> To: ENG-LINCSGEN@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, 7 March 2012, 9:37 Subject: [LIN] Marriage Hello, I wonder if it is possible that someone could give me the details of a Spilsby registered marriage which took place in November 1924 between an ALBERT RICHARDSON and a lady called ELSIE ROBINSON? 3. Perhaps this will convince them that either the parish or the date is wrong. <G> The parish register for Kirton in Holland, burials 1802. http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/RecordDisplayTranscript.aspx?oid=518915&iid=283785 The burials for 1802 continue on images 302 and 303. That register covers baptisms and burials 1685-1812, and marriages 1685 - 1754/1756. (Bit of confusion because the Archives say marriages to 1756, but there is a marriage-only register which says it begins in 1754.) 3. Hi John Are there any non-conformist burials during that period in Kirton as Adam may have been a Border Reiver?? Just a thought as his "supposed" Gt Grandson Adam Elliott born in North Tuddenham, Norfolk was a Baptist when he emigrated to Hickory Corners, MI in 1836. I would be grateful if someone could possibly do a search for the burial as this is a bone of contention with some distant cousins who are in the USA who say that Adam came from Newcastleton in Northumberland where he was born in 1720 and his son John went to live in Norfolk and married in Caistor St Edmund near Norwich.
