    3. At the top of the FamilySearch homepage is a link to "Catalog". When viewing search results, click on the arrow to the right of the result of interest to view the full details, then copy the "source film number" from these details. On the catalogue page use the drop down to select Film Number search, then paste in the number you've just copied and the source details you need will quickly be revealed. Hope that helps Pauline On 26/04/2012 12:17, rjngs wrote: > With the good old FamilySearch the Batch Number of a result could be clicked > on to indicate whether the source was BT or PR. > I have not found how to do this with the new improved FamilySearch. > Presumably there is some long way round to find it. > This information is needed to know which original Source to examine at the > County Archives. > Bob. > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ENG-LINCSGEN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > >

    1. [LIN] Bastardy Cases in the Newspaper
    2. Anne Cole
    3. LRSM = Lincoln, Rutland and Stamford Mercury Full details from the newspaper are given below; I have no further information. LRSM 30 May 1856 Horncastle Petty Sessions 24 May Elizabeth UNDERWOOD, of Hagworthingham, late in the service of Mr. W. CROPPER, at Minting, applied to have an order made upon Thos. STEVENS, of Sturton Magna, for the maintenance of her bastard child, of which she alleged he was the father. From the contradictory statements made by the plaintiff, the Magistrates dismissed the case, and informed Underwood that she had a narrow escape from being sent to Lincoln on a charge of perjury. LRSM 6 June 1856 Lincoln City Petty Sessions 5 June An order of affiliation for the maintenance of the male child of Eliza FROST was made upon Charles BENNETT, a clerk in the employ of Mr. J. EAST, miller. Boston petty Sessions 4 June An order was made upon Humphrey PHILIPS, of Bourne Fen, for payment of 2s. 6d. a week towards the maintenance of an illegitimate child belonging to Martha LEARY, singlewoman, of Gosberton. LRSM 13 June 1856 Lincoln City Petty Sessions 9 June John GODBEHERE was committed to prison for six weeks for neglecting to contribute towards the maintenance of the illegitimate child of Rebecca HODSON. Spittlegate Petty Sessions 6 June Alice MARSHALL, a girl stated to be only 16 yrs. of age, appeared for an order of affiliation upon Charles HORNSBY, an apprentice. The applicant stated particulars of the intimacy, but produced no evidence to corroborate her statements: on the contrary, one of her own witnesses, in his examination by defendant's solicitor, acknowledged that he had seen her under suspicious circumstances with another man. A witness was produced by defendant proving a similar circumstance with the same man; and the master with whom the girl had been living and the youth is apprenticed, stated that such a thing as an intimacy between the parties in question never entered his thoughts, but he had suspected the conduct of a man named MORLEY and the applicant. Morley was the man named by the two witnesses above. The Magistrates retired and deliberated upon it, and said the evidence could not be got over, and gave an order for 1s. per week. Mr. JOHNSTON appeared for defendant, and gave notice of an appeal at the next quarter sessions. Mr. HEALY appeared for applicant. Market Rasen Petty Sessions 2 June The application of Elizabeth GODFREY, of Market Rasen, for an order upon Wm. Hargrave TAYLOR, of Wickenby, groom, towards the maintenance of her illegitimate child, was adjourned until the 30th inst. LRSM 20 June 1856 Boston Petty Sessions 18 June An order was made upon John BURDEN, farmer, of Swineshead, for payment of 2s. 6d. a week towards the maintenance of an illegitimate child belonging to Ruth TAYLOR, of Swineshead, singlewoman. 3. Hi, Helen,     Very likely, she would have been given "compassionate leave" to have her child and begin the child rearing.  I suspect that the attitudes at the time would have been that she should stay home with the child rather than return to her work.  You would need her service record to confirm this.     She would normally have the child baptised in her home parish, but if she was not married at the time, it could have been anywhere.  You did not advise us of her marrital status.         Lou ________________________________ From: Helen Strickland <helen.strickland49@gmail.com> To: ENG-LINCSGEN@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, April 24, 2012 1:28 PM Subject: [LIN] Cranwell/Bird Hi I am new to this list and hope someone will point me in the right direction with my family history. 3. Dear List: I will be posing a question to this learned list for your opinion. I have worked on the family of one Luke JOHNSON (1766-1837)(born in Brigg, christened in Wrawby) and his (first?) wife Mary QUICKFALL (1788-1812?). He had these children christened: Elizabeth 1806, John 1808-1851, Frances Elizabeth 1810 and Matthew 1812. After Matthew things get fuzzy. He christened these with the wife being Elizabeth (there is a marriage in Newton on Trent in 1815 for a Luke JOHNSON and Elizabeth WILSON) Robert 1815, Sarah 1817, John 1820 and Thomas Wilson 1929. The second John has always bothered me. Why would he name another son John with the first one still alive? I know he was alive because he was my 3rd g-grandfather! Did this renaming with the first child alive happen often? I suppose it is possible that there was another Luke Johnson. Thank you for your time. Mary in Alaska

    3. I am seeking any information about the village Dorrington, Lincs & surrounds in the period from 1750 to 1800... I would like to know if at all possible, who owned the Lands, what life was like (i.e..) were there Droughts, Wars, Famine etc; this is for my own personal Ancestry as I try wherever possible to include this type of information with as many Ancestors in my Tree as possible... I do not just enter Names and Dates as I believe everyone has a story to tell. I have looked at Google, also Genuki and have found in 1801 Dorrington was a small Parish with just 225 people then the population rose to 379 in 1841 at which time the Earl of Harrowby was not only Lord of the Manor but he owned most of the land in the Parish....but who owned the land prior to 1841.., as I live in Australia it is difficult for me to access this type of information and I was wondering where would I look to find this type of information, perhaps online if at all possible. My GGG Grandparents William and Dorothy SHARP ( nee Phillips akas Phillars) were married in Dorrington at the Church of St. James & St John's Parish Church in 1765. .. the Witnesses were ( 1) ? Johnson (2) William Burnot after Banns....I am trying to piece together a little of what their lives were like prior and after their marriage.. I know William was a Farmer ( or Ag Labourer ) & together they raised 7 children between 1766 and 1773. Any information or assistance would be most appreciated. Fay Queensland' Australia
