    3. Hi Jennifer and group, What a surprise! I read these emails every day and never expected to see my own family pop up. Annie Dobbs (born Mar 1876 in Salt Fleet Bay) is my great great grandmother. I have her parents listed as John Dobbs and Mary Margaret Found. I then have different records for John Dobbs parents, I have William Dobbs and Mary Beacroft. I even have pictures of Annie, John and Mary Dobbs. I will have to look at the other information you have all added and see what I have or what is different. If anyone is interested in this family then please feel free to contact me. Martyn in Sydney (but these Dobbs were from Mt Morgan in QLD)

    3. I have no interest in any of these names, none of which I've ever come across so I checked the Guild of One-Name Studies www.one-name.org (always a good place look for any unusual surname!) to see if anyone was doing a one-name study of them - but they're not. However, if you enter each name in turn in the search box you will see that there are some instances of all these names (except Buttsume) in Guild indexes. Happy New Year to everyone. 3. It may be that the ones most interested are not yet born. I have been thrilled with some records found and I wasn't born when the letters or records were made. My surname books are a source of pleasure and pride, although many pages have post-its with to-do notes on them! Also, the children mildly interested now may become more interested when they are older. This is my situation, I hope, haha. I want to donate my work. New Years resolutions are the same forever now, ORGANIZE. Always should have been. Anyway, research keeps the brain young. I also hate the new Familysearch and Ancestry. I have great satisfaction with what I have discovered the really hard way. The last two years I have done very little since my grandchildren have been living with us. I am looking forward to organizing and getting back to work before my eyes get worse. When I hit a slump AKA brick wall I inspire myself by reading history of the times and area. I have gotten very lucrative ideas this way, especially English social history and American military history. It never fails to inspire me. My career was in natural history so my passion with history is funny to me. I am however, really sick of the American French and Indian Wars, haha.....time to sort papers! 3. It may help to look back at the reasons we ourselves became interested in this hobby. I m an only child and became interested after my mother's death. I remember looking through her little chest of photos realizing for the first time that I didn't know who some of the people in the pictures were. I felt that responsibility heavy on my shoulder. Some photos had the names and dates written on the backs but a lot didn't. So, on a space on the living room rug (those were the days I could still get down on all fours) I turned all the photos over sorting them into piles by the developer's markings on the photo backs. So between those markings, the size of the photographs against what was written on the backs (hopefully at least one in a group had been written on)I figured out the camera and who took the pictures. So then putting my knowledge of family in the mix I was able to figure out the people & location. Anyways, this hobby has sustained my sanity through thick and thin for over 30 years. It is a very rare day that goes by without me doing a bit of work on my tree. Linda B.C. Canada Main interest: James Plowright Pinchbeck/Boston area and Eliza Hooton Deeping Fen/Boston area.

    3. Hi Lou I have had quite a few messages over the past few weeks telling me my in box is full and I need to upgrade to allow more storage. Trouble is these messages come from different organisations and have nothing to do with what I use. These are simply spam messages trying to fool people to take extra storage. The chances are that in the end, if anyone does pay the extra, there is no storage at all and those who sent the message just got your money. I use Thunderbird and any messages I want to keep (especially those about family search) I simply move them to a folder I have set up for the particular surname which is not stored on the web site. Either your ISP shrugs and says, "OK, let her have another Megabyte" or they just let your incoming e-mail get bounced back to the sender. At this point, no one can contact you to let you know. > > So what is your Quota? Some systems tell you when you log in: "You have used 80% of your assigned space" or something similar. 3. Hi Lou Just as an idea of whats what with gmail as an example (in case some are worried about their allowance) I have just shy of 100,000 emails in my gmail inbox, thats 19% of my 15gb allowance (whether everyones allowance is the same I couldn't say) On gmail webmail to check, when signed in, hover over the gear icon top right and select settings, scroll down and the usage is shown at the bottom I download all my mail to Thunderbird so I have a copy on my PC where I manage my email Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 21/12/2014 22:11, lr_mills via wrote: > Hi, Missing Lincs, > > If you have web-based e-mail, like I do, you have a limit set on how much storage you can have on your ISP's server.
