A simple search of GOOGLE will turn up quite a bit about Calceby. > Is there any way that I can determine exactly where she was buried? Pre-1900, The LFHS Index series to "Parish Register Burials 1813-1900" would be a tremendous help. Have you tried FamilySearch to see if it turns up any records for Emily? [ https://familysearch.org/ ] A search of GENUKI [ http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LIN/Calceby/#ChurchRecords ] will inform you that the church at Calceby was in ruins long before Emily passed on. The parish residents attended South Ormsby and she may have been buried there. On the other hand, she could have been buried elsewhere, or ... Have you tried Lincolnshire Archiive's "Links to the Past" [ http://www.lincstothepast.com/ ] for burial records at South Ormsby? Enter "South Ormsby PAR/1" (without the quotation marks) into the search box, at the top-right side of the page. Failing the above, you may need to try the commercial sites. Hope this helps, Denny (Perth, Ontario)

    1. [LIN] Lincolnshire charters
    2. Tom LaPorte via
    3. Hello In Volume 1 of Lincolnshire Notes and Queries (1889) there is an article headed 'Lincolnshire Charters in the "More" Collection. It goes on "Amongst the "More" collection of Charters, lent by Capt. Stewart to the Historic Society of Lancashire and Cheshire, are several relating to Lincolnshire. It then lists abstracts of several early Lincolnshire Charters. I am interested in one of them: 6 Ric. II Sir John la Warre, miles, Lord of Swineshead to Ranulph Bolle of Swineshead, a plot of land called the Duckpasture for 5 years; rent 100 shillings sterling. [armorial seal of Bolle] Dated at Swineshead. The arms of the Bolles of Swineshead are well known (three couped boar's heads in cups) but my understanding is that those arms only came into use much later that this charter of 1382/83. At this time they were not the wealthy landowners they would become later after some providential marriages. I would like to find out where this charter is now to see if I can get a copy of it to see what that Bolle seal looks like. However, I cannot find any record of a "More" collection in the Lancashire, Lincolnshire or National Archives. There are many charters online in various places but I have not been able to find this particular one. Would anyone have any suggestions for me? ThanksTom(in frigid, snowy central Canada)

    3. Hello List.........Whilst watching a recently screened “Who Do You Think You Are” episode here in Queensland Australia, the program showed the Apprenticeship Application of one of the participants ancestors, who was a Law Writer.............Information on the application appeared to include the name of some of the applicants forebears........So I am chasing the same type of information for one of my ancestors....... My ancestor is Charles DAWES from the parish of Navenby Lincolnshire....... In March 1790 there is a certified agreement (of which I have a copy) between George DAUBNEY, Charles DAWES and Mary SAXBY, his mother, for Charles to be set free from his Indenture....George DAUBNEY being Charles’ employer a Plumber and Glazier in the parish of Navenby..... It is not clear if this agreement was at the end of Charles’ indenture, but it does appear there was some trouble between Charles and his employer George DAUBNEY and the indenture may have been terminated part way through...... I am seeking a copy of Charles’ indenture/apprenticeship application...........Should such have survived, where might I obtain a copy please ?????? Sam DAWES Maleny Queensland Australia

    3. George Daubney doesn't appear in the Lincoln City apprentices or in the Navenby parish pauper apprentices. It is likely that he was apprenticed privately by his parents and the document would have been kept by the family. He doesn't appear in the Inland Revenue apprentices register either (1711-1810). A Joseph Daubney of Lincoln City, a plumber and glazier, was admitted a Freeman of Lincoln by purchase in 1796.
