    1. Re: [LIN] Tealby & Fotherby Cemetery Lookups please - COCKING surname
    2. Patricia McCrory
    3. Hello Jim   We have today, been to Tealby church and taken photographs of many of the headstones.  We looked at every single one and there are no COCKLING ones.  However, there are a number of headstones dotted around the churchyard which are illegible.  I see from freereg that there are burials of COCKLING at Tealby but of course that doesn't mean to say there are headstones.  We didn't get as far as Fotherby but will flag your email so that when we go in that direction again, I'll take a look. 3. For details of RAF Grantham take a look at http://raf-lincolnshire.info/spitalgate/spitalgate.htm. This shows that from 14 Mar 1919 39 Training School was based there, being renamed as 6 Flying Training School on 29 Apr 1920. They remained there until May 1921 after which occupation was as follows: // *43 Sqn <http://raf-lincolnshire.info/43sqn/43sqn.htm>*:: Sep 1919 - Jan 1920 *100 Sqn <http://raf-lincolnshire.info/100sqn/100sqn.htm>* :: 4 Feb 1922 - ??, Aug 1926 - Jan 1928 *39 Sqn <http://raf-lincolnshire.info/39sqn/39sqn.htm>* :: 8 Feb 1923 - 21 Jan 1928 *HQ 23 Gp <http://raf-lincolnshire.info/23gphq/23gphq.htm> *:: 12 Apr 1926 - 14 Aug 1926 *3 FTS <http://raf-lincolnshire.info/3fts/3fts.htm>*:: 2 Apr 1928 - summer 1937 Hope this helps. 3. I self published [beware of who you use I had a bad experience] my family history book, as part of the package the publisher deposited books with each of the legal deposit libraries in the UK [five I think] I also gave copies of the book to Archives some who willingly gave me permission to use material others allowed use providing I didn't make a profit [hardly likely due to all the research costs etc] I also gave a copy to Scunthorpe Museum [permission to use photo's] and Scunthorpe Library [they also purchased several other copies for educational purposes]. Now after my bad experience with the publisher, the book I proofed and copies I received [and bought later] were of a far superior quality than the books they sold to my relatives. I self published on a site called YUDU http://free.yudu.com/ so those who were 'robbed' with the inferior book could access the book and pictures for free. I was for a few hours number 19 in Amazon's Genealogy book chart. 3. The Genealogical Society in London has (or used to have) paper copies of family trees which I found very useful in the past. Also the county record offices accept items related to family history, that would be North Lincolnshire I think for you. Some one will correct me if I am wrong. They were very helpful when I wanted to get rid of a load of old Lincolnshire legal documents I had been carting around from house to house because I couldn't bear to throw them away. Also why not try Grimsby library? Jo Perkins On 17 Nov 2011, at 00:43, Louis Mills wrote: > -snip- > > >> How do I get a birth certificate for James Frederick Markham ?. > > You can't, really. Ken, I suggest that you try the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.  It's still the world's largest genealogical library.  You can also try a Local Family History society, but contact them first.  Many of them don't have the room to store very much.  Of course, I also joke that if you publish on the Internet, it will never die. 3. Brilliant, Mike! Don't forget folks, that many women who were married earlier remarried after July 1837, and of course after that father's names are given in the marriage entries, and most are in the index. I spent many years researching a Randle Lawrence in Hertfordshire thinking he was the father of my several greats grandmother, Maria Lawrence. Then we found that she had remarried after 1837 and her father was James from Berkshire!!!
