    1. [LIN] 1911 census address search
    2. L&CE Mackrill
    3. I have just found I can do an address search on Ancestry for the 1911 census. I was looking for the person living at 55 Ward Street, Cleethorpes where a MACKRILL death had been recordes in 1909. I was hoping for a SMITH but no luck it was a HEMMINGWAY family. Go to the census summary books search page and enter the address in the Keyword box. This brings up the results page and your address should be the first entry. Take note of the resident and go back to the census search page and fill in boxes, last name eg "HEMMINGWAY" lived in eg "Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, England", and the Keyword box eg "55 Ward Street" and you will have the residents. 3. Hi Elaine, For the marriage try entry 103 (top, right-hand page). http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/RecordDisplayTranscript.aspx?oid=560048&iid=52238 Indexed in the original (floppy disk!) marriage indexes for Lafford Deanery 1700-1837 published by Lincolnshire FHS as Jacob Slater and Nehome Durance. The same index has a marriage for an Isaac Slater and a Sarah King in 1795, and a John Slater in 1789, both in Billinghay. Another Isaac (Jacob's brother?)married in South Kyme in 1822. If you're not familiar with the Lincs to the Past site then start here, http://www.lincstothepast.com/ For parish registers, go to 'advance search', and type the name of the parish followed by par 1 in the 'exact phrase' box. Hi listers   I don't often ask for help from you but this couple has got me beaten.  My 4x great grandparents were Jacob and Naomi Slater. but apart from a couple of census returns I cannot find any information on them, in particular what was Naomi's maiden name and who were the parents of both of them.   Jacob was born about 1792 and his census returns give either Billinghay or Ruskington as his place of birth. but I cannot find any listing for a baptism for him in Billinghay.  There is a family of Slaters there along with Jacob and Naomi, I think a brother of Jacob's called Issac, but I cannot prove this .   Jacob and Naomi and Issac  were all buried in Billinghay in the 1860's and 70's as was their second daugher Rebecca.    I an also unclear as to where they married. Naomi was born about 1789 in either Ruskington or Holland Fen depending on which census return you take, and in the 1851 census she is listed as Amelia, but I think this was a mis-information on the census. so if anyone can help me with this problem I would be most grateful.   I am doubly related to them as my 3x g grandfather was their son John and his son also called John married Eliza Baxter his first cousin who was the daughter of Mary Slater.   Thanking you in advance Elaine Westaway Hampshire UK

    3. Very doubtful. Chant is not a gipsy surname that I have come across. Also the forenames are not what would be expected from a gipsy family. And basket maker was not an occupation peculiar to gipsies. If you had found a chairbottomer, or a china mender, they are more likely gipsy occupations. There is a Gipsy & Traveller FHS and they have a website. You should find it by googling. 3. Maureen, Try this page http://www.lincstothepast.com/searchResults.aspx?keywords=south%20kelsey%20p ar1&cmd=GoToPage&val=2 where you can look at the baptism register for South Kelsey for the period you mention (1826. Scroll down to almost the bottom of the page to find the Baptisms for South Kelsey 1813-1849. Right click on the word Baptisms above those dates and you can open the register in a new Tab enabling you to go back to the original page if you want to search any more registers without having to go through the process of finding the parish again. If you want to look at a different parish put "parish" par/1 in the large search box at the top of the page, putting in the name of the parish you want to search instead of "parish". You have to make sure that you search on the spelling used by Lincolnshire Archives - these are listed in the help section. The register is easier to read if you increase the screen magnification to 200%. Hope this helps.
