    3. Peter, the name Preston Ward (not Wade) Atkinson rang a bell with me. He is in the Lincoln City Freemens' Registers which I am about to prepare for publication on CD, probably in May. He was made a Freeman of Lincoln by birth in 1790. This means that his father (William) became a Freeman before Preston Ward was born. PWA would have been 21 or over in 1790. I just checked the photo I have of the page that his enfranchisement appears on and it is definitely "Ward" not "Wade" there. Afraid I can't pass on the photo - copyright issues. Lincolnshire Archives may be able to provide a digital copy, but the copyright rests with the City of Lincoln Council. If you are interested, the Lincolnshire Archives reference is Li/5/4/1 page 137. Incidentally, there are four marriages for Preston Atkinsons in Vol. 3 of the marriage indexes, all the grooms of St Swithins, but Preston Ward does not appear there. The first of these marriages is 1723. I have been looking for my grgrgrandfathers baptism for years. The only previous 2 clues indicated he was born in Hull, however I have found a baptism for St. Swithins Lincoln. The 1802 entry shows ''Samuel son of Preston. Wade and Mary Atkinson was received into the congregation August 22nd''. Can someone please clarify why ''was received into etc'' as this addition was not included for any other entry. Last year I came across a transcription of a letter written in 1870 America. This letter stated that Samuel had a brother and 2 sisters, Sarah and Mary.I now believe the brother was called William Thomas. After a thorough trawl of FMP and Family Search records everything points to their parents as Preston Wade Atkinson and Mary Pearson. I have made some progress on the trees for Sarah and Mary, and discovered that Mary is the grgrandmother of Fay Wray who starred in the first King Kong film.
