I have finally found the name of my immigrant ancestor's father. Benjamin Stead was born ca 1803 in Yorkshire and baptized his children at Skelmanthorpe at the Wesleyan chapel. He left England in 1840. His father's name was also Benjamin, a farmer, who was born and died in Yorkshire, according to his grandchildren's bios. Since I have not found a link to the father, I thought maybe he was in a nearby county. Any clues?
