An interesting surname - HAZZLEGREAVE, but it was the middle name of my Gt-Gt-Grandfather's first wife. He was Alfred John HAYLEY and she was Sarah Hazzlegreave GARTSIDE. They married on 10 March 1863 (both of full age) at St Matthew's, Stockport and she died at the age of 41 on 8 December 1867 so she would have been born ~1822. At the time of her death, the couple lived in the Registration District of St George, Manchester. Sarah's father was James Hazzlegreave GARTSIDE (Gentleman, according to Sarah's Marriage certificate) and I believe he was born 14 April 1776 in Wallhill, Saddleworth, Yorks (d 5.03.1855) to John and Betty(Nee HAZELGREAVE) GARTSIDE. James' wife was called Hannah. I am seeking Sarah's birth details so if anyone can shed any light, I should be most grateful. Regards, Ian Hayley Teesside NE England
