Dear Listers, Below is the list of surnames submitted this week. For newcomers, just a reminder that the YKS Surnames List is a free, voluntary service that provides genealogists and family historians for Yorkshire a place to list the names they are interested in and a means to contact others who are researching the same names. These are not my names and I do no lookups nor do I post any messages, so please don't ask me. To look up names, go to the URL given below with my signature and you will be taken to an Index. Check on the group of letters that correspond to your surname, then use your find tool to see whether your name is listed. If you are interested in posting one or more of your surnames, click on the link for instructions. Please read them carefully. Use the form if your server will accept it. If you have problems, especially if your server is aol.com, follow the instructions for manual submissions. The rules are very simple and I ask you to pay attention to them, particularly if you are sending manual submissions: -Type ONLY THE SURNAME in capital letters and type it in the body of your email. Please do NOT send me a surname in the title of your email and expect me to guess the rest. -Place names - Yorkshire ONLY. All locations outside Yorkshire will be deleted by me. Separate locations with a comma, not a dash/slash/period or other character. - Contact name - Type a contact name for yourself in the body of the text - don't expect me to guess at your name from your return address. Submissions without a contact name will not be accepted. You don't have to include your full name - a forename or nickname will do. - Email address. Type your email address in the body of your email. Don't expect me to guess that your return address is the one you wish others to use. Many submitters have been known to use other email addresses to send in their submissions - friend's, office, etc. - Repeat all the above for EACH surname you are submitting, even if you are submitting several surnames in the same email. These rules are explained on the YKS home page. Read them carefully, please. Happy hunting everyone! Researching THORLEY surname in Skirlaugh Hornsea Co Yorkshire area. Daniel John THORLEY born 1886 is the only date I have that is fairly certain. Believe his parents to be George THORLEY and Hannah Jane HINDE (making assumptions from internet findings). Daniel did have two brothers, Robert and George Arthur. George died in WWI.
