Dear listers, I have just joined this list in hopes that someone may be able to help. If I have chosen the incorrect list for my plea, please, will someone tell me to which list I should seek help? I am looking for a needle in a haystack ( aren't we all?) and believe the haystack to be in Lancashire. Specifically, I am trying to help a friend find the birth record for his grandmother, Anna Elizabeth WALSH (said to have been called Annie as a child). I have already sent for 2 birth certificates that are not the correct ones, so before sending off for any more, I thought I'd ask for help. Ann(e)/Annie/Anna WALSH was born August 23, 1877 to Michael and MaryAnn Smith Walsh. It is believed that she was born in Lancashire, but exact town not known. There are some possibilities listed for the September Quater of 1877 for the correct child and I am asking if there is anyone on this list with access to records below. It is most likely a Roman Catholic church, as it is thought that both parents were born in Ireland. The listings I've found are: WALSH Ann, Haslington 83 194 ** WALSH Annie, Preston 83 560 **Annie's father, Michael Walsh, is said to have died of smallpox at a young age. Annie had a brother John ( thought to be a few years older) as well. The reason I feel that the Haslington district may be the one is I have found a John WALSH birth for Dec. 1873, Haslington 8e 123; John Henry, Haslington 8e 170 and one for June 1874 quater, John William, Haslington 8e 195 as well as a death of Michael Walsh, 37 Haslington 8e 88. Will someone also advise which Parish Records should be checked for Haslington? Thank you for reading this. Yardsley Macpherson-USA
