I am searching for my great grandfather William George DEAN born about 1854 in Sheffield. In 1901 he was living in Plymouth Devon, he was a Master Cutler. In 1861 there was a William DEAN age 6 living in Sheffield with parents John and Catherine. John was from Lancs and Catherine was from Ireland. In the 1871 census for Sheffield there is the following entry: Peter FINNERTY, head, mar, 38, spring knife cutler (employing 1 man and 2 boys), Ireland Galway Mary CASTELLO, sister, mar,46,Ireland Galway Will DEAN (no rel listed) unm, 16, spring knife cutler, Sheffield. I have not been able to find Peter, Mary, or William in the 1881 British census. I was wondering if they went to Ireland. William George DEAN was living in Plymouth in 1894 and spent the rest of his life there until his death in 1930. (Please note: there was a William H Dean living in Sheffield who was a file cutter, this is not the William I am looking for, there were 2 of them both born in Sheffield in 1854) Any help would be appreciated.
