Hi Connie, The only Thomas SMITH, 14, living in Barrow-in-Furness is living with his mother Sarah, 65; and her other children Henry, 40 and Alice, 11. Thomas was born Liverpool. The ages do look rather unlikely, and the names are a bit indistinct. If this is not your Thomas, do you have his birthplace. The entry in 1881 or 1901 (or even both) would be a help.
