    2. Magdalena Gorrell Guimaraens
    3. Dear Listers, Below, the list of surnames submitted to the list this past week. At the risk of ruffling some feathers, I again remind everyone who wishes to submit a name, or names, and who is not sure of how to do it, to PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS that you will find if you click on the link for submissions, on the YKS Home Page. To find the YKS Home Page, go to: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/YKSlist/ . Please read the instructions all the way to the end - submitting several names at a time on a single form is NOT acceptable - i.e., BLOGS&JONES&SMITH&GREEN. Now that most of the tremendous heat we have all been suffering from in Europe for the past 3 weeks appear to be over, this shouldn't be too difficult to do. 1. [ENG-LANCS-YORKS] Message from List Administrator
    2. sarah Mccray
    3. List Members: A request to all list members. Please, when subscribing to a mailing list, remember your user name and email address used when subsribing to a list. I find it helpful to keep the automated letter I receive from Rootsweb with each list subscription. Many times subscribers will send a request to Rootsweb to unsubscribe from a mailing list and they will use a different email address (or sometimes the email address has had a slight change to it) than the one used with subscribing. If, when sending a request to unsubscribe your email address shows different from that which is on the list of subscribers, the computer at Rootsweb will not be able to find it. A copy of the notice returned to the subscriber will also go to the List Administrator. After many unsuccessful attempts, some subscribers will then send another request to unsubscribe SHOUTING at the computer that they have tried several times to unsubscribe and are still getting messages. Of course, these, too, are also sent to the frustrated list administrator because they get copies of all messages sent to the subscriber. If there are several hundred subscribers on the list it is hard for the list administrator to find this person because the email address used t! o SHOUT with is different from that which they subscribed with. So PLEASE, to keep your list administrators from getting frustrated with your frustrations, please remember which email address you subscribed with and if there are any slight changes to your email address (sometimes ISPs will make slight changes to the part that comes after the @ and although their computers recognize the old part the computers at Rootsweb do not). THANK YOU for indulging my frustrations. Sarah McCray ENG-LANCS-YORKS list administrator

    1. [ENG-LANCS-YORKS] Which cemetery?
    2. Sonja Taylor-Uhlmann
    3. My Nan died in 1913 at the Sheffield Women's Hospital. I contacted Sheffield cemeteries and they kindly had a look to see if she had been interred there. No luck! I am now thinking Grandie may have had her buried in Rotherham. Any clues as to where would be appreciated. As they were Catholic I am presuming a catholic church yard. On her death cert, they were listed as residing at Chapel Houses, Barugh Green near Barnsley. Not being an English resident, I am finding this quite geographically challenging! rotfl Sonja Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. 3. Hi folks. I am looking for Nellie BALLINGER resident of 11 Branch St, Nelson, Lancashire in 1901 aged 4 years who may have married a L JEFFERSON prior to 1947-49 as he is listed on Nellie's parents (Japheth & Alice Ann) death certificates as informant as a Son in-law. Has anyone got this couple in their family tree. Nellie may have been married before but have no proof of this. I have searched the St Cath's index up until 1933 but with no luck. 1. [ENG-LANCS-YORKS] YKS Surnames List - 10 August Update
    2. Magdalena Gorrell Guimaraens
    3. Dear Listers, Below, as usual, is the list of surnames submitted this past week. There have also been quite a few email updates from existing subscribers. Sadly, there have also been quite a few reports of bouncing emails. These I have checked and all have repeatedly bounced, so I have deleted all entries bearing the bouncing emails. Also, this week has been prolific in the number of blank emails I have received from individuals with aol.com as their ISP server. Once again, please read the instructions for submitting surnames if you are not used to the process. You will find the instructions on the YKS home page. Just click and read them through. Especially if your server is aol. I have another special request. If you are submitting your surnames manually, for one reason or another, do not expect me to guess the contact name and the email address of the submitter - it does not always follow that the sender of the email is the submitter. It is not enough just to list a name and place. The format you have to follow is: SURNAME Date(s) - if any Place(s) - if any - Yorkshire only Contact name Email address Web address - if any All the best to everyone, Magdalena LIST OF NEW SURNAMES THIS WEEK: AGAR, ALDERSON, ALLISON, AYRE BRAIM, BYRNE CAMPY, CLARK, CORDUEX DRINKALL EDWARDS GARNETT, GARTON, GREEN HARRISON, HARTLEY, HOWDEN, HUDSON JAQUES KITCHIN LYNCH MITCHELL, MORLEY OFFICER, OLDALE PRIESTLEY SHEARD, SHEPHERD, STATHERS, STEPHENS/STEVENS TAYLOR, TERRY, THOMPSON, TINDALL WALKER, WARD, WHITFIELD Magdalena Gorrell Guimaraens YKS Surnames List Administrator http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/YKSlist/ YKSsurnames@yahoo.com With my thanks to all the other List Administrators to whom this is posted even though I am not a member of them all!

    1. [ENG-LANCS-YORKS] HATCH - for Diane.
    2. Sonja Taylor-Uhlmann
    3. Hiya Diane; I had a quick squizz at the 1901 census and found the following for you: Joseph b 1837 aged 64 Marths b 1835 aged 66 Both still in Newton in M. I found 1 Thomas who came close to yours : Thomas born Newton Le Willows aged 33 Iron Monger in Warrington. Frances aged 25 still in Newton in M but doesn't seem to be residing with Joseph or Martha. I might be wrong! It was a QUICK look! Mary Jane wasn't to be seen under the name of HATCH but could well have married. No sign of young Samuel on 1901. I will have a look elsewhere after tea tonight. Hope this helps a bit. Warm regards Sonja Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia.
