Good Evening Listers, I am hoping somebody can help me, as I am 101% stuck! GGG-grandmother Ann TASKER born Manchester 1810(??) married THOMAS LAMB 7th June, 1830 in Leeds They had 5 children. They lived in Leeds and I do not know when she died, I can find no trace of either her or Thomas on the 1881 census. The only clue I have to Ann's birth is the 1851 census entry for them, where her brother is also mentioned and strangely he was born in Leeds, unless this was a mistake of course. 1851 Thomas Lamb and Ann Tasker (parents of Susannah Lamb born 1833 she was married by this time) 9 Garden Court, Leeds Thomas Lamb H M 39 Cart Driver Leeds Ann " W M 41 Manchester Sarah A " D 15 Leeds Harriet " D 8 Scholar Leeds Jane A " D 2 Leeds Robert Tasker BinL Unm 37 Cart Driver Leeds In 1871 Robert Tasker, Ann's brother was with his niece, Susannah (above) again in Leeds 1871 Burton Joshua/Susannah (Lamb) (parents of Ada) 27 Green Street, Leeds Joshua Burton H M 39 Kirkstall Susannah " W M 37 Leeds Joshua " S 17 W. I have found a reference to Ann Tasker being baptised 22nd July 1812 at the Cathedral, manchester, parents John and Hannah. The IGI refs showed no sign of Robert. I also found Ann Tasker baptised 18th March 1810 in Accrington, parents John and Martha. If anybody can help me with this dead end on Ann Tasker I would be most grateful. Jennifer (UK)

G'day Folks. My name is Don and I'm located in Australia down at the cold end. I'm looking for any information on the family of my great aunt Sarah Jane HOWE. All I know about Sarah Jane is: Sarah Jane b. about 1915 in Lancs. married Wilfred HETHERINGTON abt 1915 in Southport, Lancs. They had four children that I know of, three girls, Edith Mary b.1920 d. 1920, all deceased at Wilfred's death on 1970 and a boy Kenneth. Wilfred migrated to Australia about 1951 with Kenneth but am unsure if Sarah was deceased at that time. Any assistance greatly appreciated Don Hetherington Victoria Australia

Welcome back everyone (well, I suppose almost everyone) from your holidays. Now that we have to get back to serious work, there is a little housekeeping matter I would like to draw your attention to. I would like to gently remind those who have not had a moment or opportunity to download their emails to do so soon as I am getting several reports of bouncing emails. When I checked these, I notice that most bounce because the inbox is full. I will not, of course, in this case delete your entries - as long as you don't take too long to empty your inboxes! Below is the list of new submissions for this week. Hi Eng-Lancs-Yorks Rootswebers , Researching my gg grandfather James L.(Loyd)McKenzie b. Ireland (more likely No.Ireland)circa 1850 and m. Mary Ann Cassidy (Cassady) June 1874 in Keighley(9a313),Yorkshire,No.England. Suspect that wife Mary Ann also b. Ireland. It appears that in the late 1870's the family lived in Bingley,York,England. In 1881 census, the family lived at 11 Castle St. Accrington,Lancashire,England. Son George Thomas McKenzie b.England 3/29/1887,place unknown. Other children may be Alice E., Mary A.& John. My Ireland search is at a dead end for parish, townland etc. Could someone please do a 1891 census lookup(already have 1881 & 1901 ? Also, is anyone also researching, or related to, or knows of this family ? Thanks very much - - - kind regards - sincerely , Walt-NJ-USA

Dear Listers and Subscribers, This is a very special update as it marks the Surnames List's topping the 20,000 submissions - 20,051, to be exact! This is a great occasion to thank everyone who has submitted surnames and the many who regularly send me emails telling me how helpful the YKS Surnames List has been to their research. Real words of comfort for those who never appear to have even a nibble. BTW, I apologize for being a bit late with this update, but I decided to take a 5-day-long weekend off and bask in the sun in the middle of nowhere, miles from any Internet connection! Hi, Does SKS have access to the 1871 Census for Yorkshire? I am looking for a William and Robert Heaton, possibly living at Clough House, Keighley. If anyone could look this up for me I would be very grateful. Sarah Wall
Please can some kind person look on the 1851 census for a family of BROWN to include a John - aged about 52,born Stockport, Mary - wife aged about 34, born Salford, 2 children aged about 3 and one of a few months, both born Warrington. I have Mary on the 1861 census in Cardiff saying she was born Salford SOM, but there is a Salford in Lancashire and a SalTford in Somerset so I need to know which one is correct. I am inclined to think Salford Lancs is correct as both her eldest children were born there and her husband is from close by. Any information will be much appreciated Thanks Ann
