I dont know where in W Yorks your Thomas was but it might be worth having a look around the Skipton area. My Moorhouses originally came from there and were based there pre-1650 and its only a spit and a jump from W Yorks.

    3. Hello: My Moorhouse line is mainly from WYks but I have come to a dead end. Somewhere I read that my line perhaps had its origins in Lancashire. If that be the case then maybe someone on this list would recognize the name THOMAS MOORHOUSE. Thomas was born ca 1698 and was a searge weaver by trade. In WYks he was married twice. First in 1723 to Sarah WRIGHT and then in 1727 to Agnes MIDGLEY. He had 6 children that I know of- John, Jane, George, Mary, John and Anne. If any of this sounds familiar at all to anyone I would be delighted to hearf rom you. Regards Bruce Moorhouse brucemoorhouse@rogers.com

    2. Magdalena Gorrell Guimaraens
    3. Dear Listers, Because of some unknown reason, the last update only reached the various sites a couple of days ago so this one comes fast on the heels of the 21 December update. This is the last update of 2003 and I would welcome your including the following in your New Year's Resolutions: 1. I will check my entries before posting new submissions, so as not to duplicate entries. (This week, of 76 submissions, 37 were duplicates and therefore, rejected). 2. I will give a name by which I can be addressed, as a courtesy to other researchers. (From Jan 1, submissions that are not accompanied by a name - nickname, first name, whatever - will not be accepted.) 3. If I am not sure as to how to submit a surname, I will read the instructions that I can find on the homepage. Having got that off my chest, may I wish you all a wonderful 2004! Magdalena ........... 3. Hi Listers, Firstly all the best for the coming festive season. I am searching for any information on Thomas WEBB. He was born in Crooke, Shevington, Lancashire on 25th/5/1886. I am looking for information on Tom after 1918. Tom served in the 14-18 war. He servived the was and left as Sergent Tom WEBB, army number 10964. He left his wife after coming out of service, and sadly thats all I know. His main occupation was a coal miner Hewer. He may have met someone else, and may have had children ? He would have been about 60 at the start of the second war, if of course, if he was still alive. I have hired private investigators, but nothing concrete came to life. I tried the national insurance people, but was declined info. Last document I have dated 1953 stated that his occupation was a cable jointer for the electricity board. Thanking you all. Maurice.

    3. List: Please forgive the delay in getting these updates to you. Been having problems with my ISP and not getting my mail. Received the following updates from Colin Hinson and passing them on to the list. Any questions concerning these should be addressed to Colin Hinson. Sarah McCray ENG-LANCS-YORKS list administrator ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi folks, Please find below the list of the Genuki Yorkshire web pages updates and additions for the past few weeks. I have no doubt that I have left someone from the list, and if this is you, please let me know. I would remind everyone that on the Genuki site there are parish maps, a detailed map of Yorkshire and probably the best Yorkshire gazetteer around - the "Where is it in Yorkshire" pages. In addition to this there is a page for each of the 600+ ancient Parishes, with trade directories, church photographs, etc. etc. adding up to a total of over 12,000 pages. If you have transcribed something of general interest (as opposed to family specific) to those researching their Yorkshire ancestors , please don't keep it to yourself - drop me a line telling me what you have and I'll do my best to get it on line for you on the Genuki Yorkshire web-site.
