Hi there I wrote to the list once before but was a little vague with the information I was able to give, possibly the reason why I got no response. I have now been able to do a little more digging and this is what I have managed to find out - Family history says my mother in laws father was Henry Caradith from Nelson in Lancashire, although his name does not appear on her birth certificate. I have searched for the name Caradith but have drawn a blank. However, a possible soundalike surname is Caradine and I have found several of these in the Lancashire area. Henry Caradith/Caradine would have been in Sheffield around the 1930/1940's and would have met a lady by the name of Ethel Lindley from Sheffield. They never married but a result of their friendship was my mother in law Ann Lindley. Does anyone have connections with the surname Caradith/Caradine and is this making any sense? If so I would love to hear from you. Talk soon Karen Hill Sheffield, UK
I am searching for my paternal grandfather, Thomas DAVIS, born about 1830, who turned up in Adelaide, Australia at his second marriage in 1878. He married Ellen Jane JAMES. I do not know where Thomas was born, his marriage certificate did not say, but it did say his father name was Charles DAVIS. Ellen died in 1883. I do not know anything about his first marriage or if there are any children. I suspect that he married a third time. Do you have a missing Thomas DAVIS with a father Charles? Regards Ernie Davis, Manly, Australia ernied1@bigpond.com

Hi, new to this list. I have been searching for my 2xggmother Eliza (Elizabeth?) for quite some time now and have tried quite a few lists in this area. Hopefully this one will turn something up. It is believed that she was born in or around SHEFFIELD abt 1819. She married a William GRAINGER around 1837 possibly in the London area. William must have died or shot through about the middle of the 1840s, as Eliza married my 2xggfather James BUTLER in 1848. Her name on their marriage certificate shows as: GRAINGER / HORRIDGE. She had two children from the previous married, Thomas and William. James, Eliza and the kids sailed for Aus in 1852 on the ship, Lord Dalhousie, James was a pensioner guard. If anyone has any info on Eliza, I would love to hear about it. kind rgds phil butler..... sunny qld.....
