Dear Listers, As I post the latest submissions, could I please ask you to think twice before submitting if you have submitted names before. Before you post another surname, please check the YKS list to make sure that you are not repeating a submission. This week, of the 137 names that were submitted, 75 were duplicates. That meant that I had to download or manually enter 137 names. Please remember that this is a free, purely voluntary list and it does take time to keep updated. If you submitted a name this past week and you do not find it listed below, it is because it was a duplicate and as such was thrown out by the software. Also, as there is no magic form for changing emails, I also have to make these corrections manually. Please, remember to send me your OLD and your NEW email addresses. Just sending your name or the name of your submission is rarely enough for me to find your submission. Re-submitting a name with the new address will not work. Don't do it. Add to this the checking around and eliminating of bouncing emails... :-( Enjoy your pancakes on Tuesday! Please, would some kind soul who has easy access to Saddleworth marriage records, be good enough to look up the marriage of Abel Dale to either Mary or Mally (It changes from census to census) Their eldest daughter, Betty as born around 1842, so I should imagine that the marriage took place sometime just prior to that date. Any info most gratefully received. Thanks very much. Janet Gay New Zealand.
Hi, I am trying to locate my husband's grandfather. His name is Albert Maurice Wall, but he may have been Maurice Albert, originally. Until a while ago I thought he was from Liverpool, but I now think that, maybe, he was from Bradford. He was born in 1912/13 and his father was John James Wall. So far he has been incredibly elusive, but maybe I've just been looking in the wrong place. I really don't have much to go on you see. I would be really grateful if anyone on the list has any information on this name, or could help me to find anything else out. My husband is desperate to trace his grandfather. Looking forward to hearing from anybody. Sarah Wall

Hello List I have just come back from a holiday in N Ireland, whilst browsing in an old book shop I came across an old family bible for the WITTER family. Father John WITTER born at Hyde LANCASHIRE, the rest of the family were born in St Helens. Unfortunately I did not have a pen and paper with me, although I did photograph the first page, film to be processed this week. The Bible was in a bookshop in Bushmills, there is only one small book shop there. I will be returning in late June and would be happy to pick it up or get more info if anyone is interested. Please reply to my home email address as I have only subscribed to post the message Regards Marion in Salford

In order to trace the HOLT line in my family history research, I am trying to locate my grandfather, Jack HOLT, and his family. He was last known to be living at 2 Tenterfield Terrace, Todmorden around 1971. That was the last time my father and mother had contact with Jack. At that time he was married to Doreen and they had a son called David and a daughter called Vivien. Jack had served for many years in the army, particularly being stationed at Halifax barracks around 1946. I am not sure whether Jack is still alive. I have searched the phone directory and electoral role and have located 16 Jack HOLT's living in Lancashire. Before I write to these people, I thought I would ask on this mailing list to see if anyone knows of, or has any information regarding my grandfather. Thank you, Alan Holt

With help from a distant relative in England, I have many generations of my grandmother's ancestors recorded: Taylors, Allens, Hinghams in Lancashire, and earlier in Cambridgeshire. The line there consists of many Steadmans. I have not done as will on my grandfather's line. Abraham C. Roberts, born in Bury, Lancashire in 1855 His father is John Roberts, but I no nothing else about him. Abraham's mother was Hannah Clayton, no more info. Margaret Ellen Shaw born 24 Sept. 1858, married Abraham Roberts. Her father was James Shaw (no more info.) and her mother is unknown. I am new to the info on the Internet, so any suggestions will be helpful. Thank you. Marilyn
