Hi Peter, if you didn't receive the info re Preston Directory, I just checked and its on the link. Didn't quite understand your Gillett query or the way you phrased it. The part letter I have is just signed E. Gillett, I have no other connection with them than that. The thought that it may be Eleanor was just from an idle plunge into Family Search IGI and Family Search 1881 Census. Have you tried a search on Free BMD (no charge)and the Records Office 1901 Census Online (you can do the search without paying but have to then pay for details). You will find your people on the 1861,1871, 1891, 1901 Censuses on line also with Ancestry.com if you are a subscriber or in in a group subscription, if not try the two week free access, you can get a lot of info in two weeks if you plan ahead what you need. You will have provided your credit card details to enter the free access so you have to be prompt in pulling out within that two weeks, unless of course you find a subscription will give you further help, or face the annual subscription. Also try 1837 Online, this is a pay for view access to the entire GRO BMD Indexes by image, plus Lancashire and a few other counties 1861 Census however this is only five pounds for a bundle of basic search credits. You can download quarter indexe images for one credit per page and sort them out later from your Word or other file. If you want connecting details, send for a duplicate BMD certificate, this can now be done on line for less than by mail or agent ie seven pounds per certificate but be sure you have the right person most of us researchers have a bundle of right name/wrong connection certificates, good luck, Alan Potter
