    3. Hello everyone. I for one am very interested in all the questions and helpful advise being shared here. Therefore, I would like to re-post my earlier request for information on the surnames BLUNDELL and CHADWICK. In particular, information related to: Frederick W. BLUNDELL, b. 7/8/1857 in Preston, m. Elizabeth CHADWICK, b. 7/1/1857 in Preston, emigrated to the US in 1881 or 1882 with an infant son Frederick W. BLUNDELL, Jr. I believe they were living at 20 Hilton Street in Preston prior to moving to the US. I don't have any other information on the BLUNDELLS or the CHADWICKS prior to them moving to Massachusetts, USA in the early 1880's. Thank you all very much. 3. Hi, Karen, You wrote > Frederick W. BLUNDELL, b. 7/8/1857 in Preston, m. > Elizabeth CHADWICK, b. 7/1/1857 in Preston, emigrated > to the US in 1881 or 1882 with an infant son Frederick > W. BLUNDELL, Jr. I believe they were living at 20 > Hilton Street in Preston prior to moving to the US. The date you give 1881/2 suggested looking in the 1881 Census Transcript and this is what I found Dwelling: 20 Hilton St Census Place: Preston, Lancashire, England Source: FHL Film 1342011 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 4226 Folio 87 Page 39 Marr Age Sex Birthplace Elizabeth CHADWICK W 51 F Preston, Lancashire, England Rel: Head Occ: Retired Grocer Mary WELLS M 24 F Preston, Lancashire, England Rel: Boarder Occ: Cotton Weaver James WELLS 2 M Preston, Lancashire, England Rel: Boarders Son Fred BLUNDELL M 24 M Preston, Lancashire, England Rel: Lodger Occ: Cotton Weaver Ann BLUNDELL M 24 F Preston, Lancashire, England Rel: Lodgers Wife Occ: Cotton Weaver 1881 British Census 09/08/01 Copyright (c) 1999 by Intellectual Reserve, Inc. All rights reserved. This is probably the family you seek as the Head of Household is Elizabeth CHADWICK, widow, at 20 Hilton Street. Interestingly, Fred's wife is recorded as Ann. Although Ann is recorded as 'Lodger's Wife' this does not exclude her being the daughter of Elizabeth CHADWICK. The other Census films for Preston have been indexed by Surname (nothing else is included) and are available on microfiche from the Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society, details at www.lancashire-fhhs.org.uk Using these indexes, you will be able to find all the folios of the Census on which the BLUNDELL and CHADWICK surnames occur. If you have access to a Mormon (LDS) Family History Center (FHC) you will be able to borrow the films and find the families. The Censuses were taken every 10 years, so the 1871 and 1861 Returns should include both Fred and Ann/Elizabeth. Hope this helps Jim Lancaster (Bury, LAN, ENG) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karen Kowalski" <[email protected]>
