Melissa, some years ago I knew the descendents of these people personally - it is very unusual name and the SMELTZERS were all related - the one I knew was called Vic SMELTZER was he was a friend of my parents and went to their church. I think they moved to another area,and we are going back a long long time now, they may no longer be alive even, I dont remember their ages in relation to my parents, who are now nearly 80. The telephone directory has two people of the name living in St Helens still - www.bt.com perhaps a letter to them would help you with information as well. I do remember that Vic Smeltzer wrote some books, aimed at children, the titles all started "thank you for" and had different themes - a drink of water, a pair of jeans, a bar of chocolate, etc etc and it showed how these things were produced and why children should thank God for them and the people involved in them.
