Hi all, Just got back from holiday to a list of attachments about keeping the list active etc. As someone new to this list and to genealogy research I find myself unsure how to best use (and contribute to) the list! Any recommendations gratefully received! I guess I can also repost my research interests: CATTERALL - John (1836-?) married Bridget LAMB (1836-?) in 1856. children: Richard Henry (1860-1938), Herbert (??), Samuel (??). Richard Henry, a plasterer, apparently went to Sydney, Australia for 10 years in 1880s to make his fortune - cannot find any info on this - any ideas? SEED - Robert (1820-1860) married Jane TAYLOR (1822-1861) in 1844. children: Thomas (1846-??) Matilda (1855-??), Amelia (1848-??), John (1850-??), Samuel (1851-??), Richard (1853-1920), William (1856-1861). The Seed children were orphaned in 1861. Any ideas how we find out where they went? - were there official lines to follow in the event of both parents dying? Richard SEED married Ann.TOULMIN became printer and set up R Seed & Sons. TOULMIN - William (1821-1895) married Nancy Pomfret (1825-1896) in 1843. William son of John TOULMIN and Ann EMMET married 1810. Other TOULMIN children: John (1811-??), James (1815-??), George (1815-??), Michael (1819-??), ?Michael Emmet (1828-??). Toulmins set up Free Gospel church, Ashmoor St (?1853) after argument with pastor at Saul Street Primitive methodist Chapel and records for this church are not in Lancs Record Office. Any info about this church would be great - and any ideas where the records might be?? Toulmins may have originated in Lancaster in 1700s. One married a MILCAH POOLER in 1776 - anyone heard the name 'Milcah'? DOWBIGGIN - William (1820-1891) married Alice EGLIN (1830-1894) in 1851 in Westmoreland. children: Elizabeth (1852-??), Richard Eglin (1853-?1902), Mary (1855-88), Ann (1858-1918) married Richard Henry Catterall 1889, William (1864-1892), C. Dowbiggin???(on death certificate as informant). William was a plate layer on railway from 1850's to his death - seems to have moved a lot. Cannot find this family on ANY census!! Not on LDS 1881 index. Well that should keep things 'active' for a while. Hope I haven't overdone it!! Bye from rainy Harrogate Caroline
