If only the staff of the CRO had bothered to tell me that the Harris library also holds the 1881 census fiche for Preston. I called a day trip there short after being be told they only had the transcription (which contains glaring errors for my family). I was pretty mad when I got all the way home, checked online where the 1881 fiche were held and found that they were kept at the Harris Library (just around the corner)! -- Stuart Morgan http://www.tase.co.uk
