I recently forwarded the following message to the list: *** > I wish to discover who was living at 51 Bridge Road, PRESTON, in 1917 and was > hoping that someone who might have access to a Preston Trade Directory or > Electoral Roll might be able to help. The address comes from a burial record > and is the address given "At Death" of Elizabeth HOTHERSALL. As this lady > lived most of her life and was buried at Clitheroe, Lancs. she was probably > living with relatives in PRESTON. > > Any help greatly appreciated. *** It was only afterwards that I realised that the year in question being 1917 there would be no electoral rolls or trade directories because of WW1. I have said that I believe that she was probably living with relatives and it would be a reasonable assumption that those presumed relatives would still be living there in 1918/19 when electoral rolls would be compiled onece more. So can I ask again that if someone is able to access the rolls or directories for the area, then they might look up the address for these years - or if not available perhaps the immediately pre-war ones instead - 1912- 1915. It is the presumed relatives that I am primarily interested in and I would expect them to be Hothersalls. I would be greatful for any information you could send me.
