Hi I'm new to the list and am posting my Preston interests as follows:- LOMAX All dates. Mostly Benjamin and Georges! BUTCHER Mary born c 1833 married to Benjamin Lomax, a clogger of North Rd. Preston in 1857. ather John Butcher COLE Mary Ann married George Lomax. Could have been in service in Preston before her marriage as 1891 census states her birthplace as Dudley. ASHCROFT (lived and worked mostly on the barges on the Lancaster canal) lived in Hope Street, Back Edward St etc on the canal basin. BEESLEY Elizabeth Beesley born c 1825 married to Daniel Ashcroft canal boatman brother of Joseph in 1847. PEARSON George Pearson a grocer of Park Road, Preston married unknown, then Hannah Sumner in 1842, then Margaret White in 1850. Son John Pearson born 1843. SOWERBY Martha Sowerby c 1843 married John Pearson. Martha daughter of Thomas Sowerby and Mary Ashton RIGBY Thomas Rigby and Elizabeth Taylor both born in Tarleton, as was their son, my grandfather born around 1870. Younger children born Preston except youngest Edward born in 1880 born in Hesketh with Becconsall. Some connections apparently with the now demolished Port Admiral public house. ROE Looking for marriage of George Roe and Hannah (Ann) Pasker Both born around 1830 in Preston. Daughter Mary Jane Roe born in 1861. Also birth of George. Any information would be appreciated.
