Hi Jim Lancaster Sincere thanks for your reply. Yes I have the death Certificate hand written 6 th day of Oct 1985. I have been helping others for years and thought I would start to tidy up my own loose ends. The F has been printed clearly to be like F. I put this message on the LancsGen list too, and had an answer from Tom Millar, with a copy of Thomas and Priscilla on the 1881 census in Hunslet Yks, which I had not found before, so I think I will have to try and search for the daughters mentioned in the 1881 census, marriage to Percy Fordaker. I now live 721 kms away from the nearest GRO index in Perth WA, so have to wait till I go in July. I have no access to the 1891 census, as that too is in Perth. My Great Grandfather David Pendlebury, who married Sarah Green, was born in Warrington Lan, his mother Sarah C0X was supposed to be born in Preston c1806. is there any chance you could help me with that name. Many thanks Molly Bergh, Esperance Western Australia > >
Hi, Molly, You wrote > Yes I have the death Certificate hand written 6 th day of Oct 1985. > The F has been printed clearly to be like F. In this case I think it would be wise to ask for the details to be checked because someone has interpreted what they saw. Having indexed some 1891 Census returns, handwriting could be very ornate, and hence VERY difficult to read. You have not found FORDAKER in the 1881 Census, and it is not a surname being researched in the 1996 or 1999 Genealogical Research Directory so it is either not a surname or extremely rare. You may like to ask if it could be an 'H'. Your problems of access to sources put mine into perspective. Have you looked at http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ as an alternative to travel to Perth? Hope this helps Jim Lancaster (Bury, LAN)
