Hello Listers, Joseph Bellas SMITH ( my great grandfather ) was christened August 1837 at St John, Preston, the son of Henry SMITH, Spinner, & Mary, of Ribbleton Lane. Joseph married in Preston in 1860, when he gave his address as 28 NEWTON Street & named his father, Henry, Cotton spinner. I have traced Joseph from 1860 up to his death in 1907 in Preston, BUT I HAVE A BIG GAP! Please is anyone able to find the family in Preston in the 1851 & the 1841 census? ( I have found a Henry Smith who I think may be the father, in 1861 at 1 Green St. in 1871 at 30 NEWTON St. & in 1881 at Horner St., but this Henry was married to Betsy & had children born in Australia, so maybe Mary SMITH had died ?????)
