    3. Hello all Lancashire listers. I don’t normally subscribe to these lists, as far as I am currently aware I have no ancestors from Lancashire but I received the following via the Leicestershire list and thought you should be aware what is happening to your gravestones: Below is the posting I received today: I am forwarding this article from a Belfast newspaper because this sickens me to my very soul and because I am currently involved in trying to save a Potter's Field here in Milwaukee County from desecration. It seems a losing battle, but we will fight to the very end. As far as this article is concerned, I can only say, I wonder how the proprietor of this establishment would feel if he came in and found his own family stones on his bar!? My next question is, who in England would allow these stones to be taken away for ANY purpose? There is no excuse for the landlord or for the one who released these stones. It seems too large a lot to be theft. Pardon my anger, but there it is and here's the article. Evelyn White Oliveras Quote: A Grave Matter OT 05/16/01 22:11 May 16, 2001 (WENN via COMTEX) -- An Ireland landlord has been criticised after installing gravestones on the floor of his pub. Customer Marguerite Sinnot spotted an altar carving behind the bar and then noticed she and her husband were standing on gravestones clearly inscribed with names and dates. When she later phoned the bar to complain, she was told not to worry because the gravestones were from Lancashire, England. BELFAST EVENING TELEGRAPH) Unquote Happy hunting to you all Betty. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
