Hi Listers, I am brand-new to this list so will give my surname interests in the hope they ring a bell somewhere. I am trying to trace the ancestors and descendants of my great-grandfather THOMAS BENNETT (183/4-?) who married MARGARET BAMBER (1833-?). Thomas BENNETT's father was RICHARD BENNETT, a farmer. Margaret BAMBER's father was WILLIAM BAMBER (1797-?) married to Margaret ? Thomas and Margaret had six children : Elizabeth Ann BENNETT (1833, b. Leyland) John Thomas BENNETT (1861-?, b. Leyland - I believe he died young) William Richard BENNETT (1865-?) b. Preston Annie BENNETT (1867-) Clara BENNETT (1868-) Florence BENNETT (1874-1825) I have details of this family from the 1861 and 1881 Censuses - they lived at 21 Lune Street Preston. Florence BENNETT was my grandmother, though I never knew her. She died before I was born. She married JOHN CLAYTON of Hazel Grove Cheshire. Thomas BENNETT was a watchmaker and jeweller in Preston. Family lore has it that Elizabeth Ann married a HENRY BAKER, and William Richard married a HARRIET ?; also Annie married a HENRY INGHAM. But I have, as yet, been unable to verify this at all. I hope someone can shed some light here. I have been floundering away for many months without much success. I do know there are many BENNETTS in Preston and that this was always going to be difficult to sort out, particularly from here in New Zealand. Pam Sawyer
