    3. Hello Peter, I don't know if you have looked on the a2a site. I have found three entries for a William Anderton for Bills of Cost of Prosecution at Preston Quarter Sessions in 1859 and 1862. They have copies of these bills at Lancashire Record Office, but they do not give much information, other than the costs. During this period, he may have been in the House of Correction in Preston. They have records for the House of Correction at the Harris Library in Preston, but some of the years are missing. The entries give the person's name, age and what they are in for and later it may give the sentence they have been given. Do you know the address he was living at in 1851? Kind regards, Anne in Bolton. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter & Ivy Heptinstall" <piheppy@netserv.net.au> To: <ENG-LANCS-PRESTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, October 30, 2004 1:50 AM Subject: Look Up 1861 > Hello Everyone, Thanks for the list. > I wonder if anyone could be kind enough to check up in the 1861 census for > a William Anderton, he was born in 1840 and became a Blacksmith, he was > living with his parents in 1851 in Preston and could have been in prison > by 1861 as he got into regular trouble until he was transported to my neck > of the woods in 1868.
