Hi, Paul, I saw your note about English Martyrs' registers. Good to know that they are now easily available. You comment > They are indexed as well. I hasten to add the indexing is somewhat idiosyncratic (sp) !! The indexing is a fairly standard way for Catholic registers to be indexed as they were generated. In the Baptism Registers, the names were entered in a list by initial letter of the surname as the baptisms occurred. This means that they are in chronological order under first letter, so under 'L' the list may be 1897 Lancaster Lucas 1898 Lowe Lynch Lenny but they will be in date order, and usually the year is included as a heading in the index. This means that if you have some idea of the date, it is fairly easy to see if the record of interest is there, or not.
