I have recently (ish) discovered that my great grandfather Walter Parker (born 2/2/1889 in Radford in Nottingham) had two older brothers we did not know existed! All we knew was that Walter's parents (William Henry Parker & Elizabeth nee Dominic[k][o]) had married in 1871 in Nottingham, Walter was born in 1889 and they moved to Preston in 1891. Sometime after that they had a daughter Hilda (died 1976) who married a man called Taylor and had two daughters (Dorothy & Muriel). I always thought from 1871 to 1889 was a long time to stay childless (I know there are many good reasons why it may happen) but as far as we knew Walter was the eldest. I found William Henry and Elizabeth on the 1881 census living in Bow (East London) with two "unknown" sons (both born in Nottingham): William born approx 1873/74. Francis born approx 1877/78. The family were back in Nottingham for the 1891 census. William (aged about 17) was not on it but 13 year old Francis and two year old Walter were. We would like to know if Francis (and William) either stayed in Nottingham or went to Preston. If not before the 1901 census is available. According to my Gran my Grandad (Walter's son) used to say there were related Parkers in Burnley but did not know any more. If anybody knows what happened to William and Francis I would love to hear from you. Liz.
