I'm tracing the McCanna family and one of them married a Mary 'Jane' Smith. John Joseph McCanna married Mary 'Jane' Smith in Preston in 1820. John Joseph McCanna, b. 1796 in Ireland d. 1874 in Illinois, USA Mary Jane Smith, b. 1800 in Preston, England d. 1875 in Minnesota, USA John joined the English Navy in Preston and that is how he met Mary Jane. They have four sons, Bernard, John, Thomas and Francis. All born in Preston. They left England about 1830 for the USA. I think they attended St. Wilfred Catholic Church, There are records to my knowledge but I'm not sure where they are. I emailed the priest at St. Wilfred's and asked if they had them or some other repository had them but did not receive an answer. That's all I know of the Smith's at this time.
