    1. Anyone from near FULWOOD?
    2. Michaela Morgan
    3. Hi All, Is there anyone out there who lives in the Fulwood area and has a digital camera? I have some notes from a talk with my grandmother when she described Fulwood Hall where her grandmother lived when she was a small child around 1910. She described the big front door with nails in it and a date over the top, presumably when the hall was built. I would love to see the Hall and especially the door but I can't see myself getting to Lancashire anytime in the near future. I understand the hall is now a gold course so I thought that public access might be possible to take some pictures, at least of the outside. Any help much appreciated Michaela Morgan Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

    3. Hello to all, If anyone has the above censuses or census indexes, I would greatly appreciate a look up for Richard BALDERSTON. On the marriage certificate for his daughter, Mary Sarah, her address was given as Chaddock Street, PRESTON. Hopefully, this was her father's address. His occupation is given as Dancing Master. 3. Dear List, I am researching George Thomas Davies who Married Catherine Sharples at blackburn in 1852. We have a number of possible places for the birth of George, and I know if I order the 1851 census for Blackburn he could possible be living there a year before marriage. My dilemma is, there are three films on the 1851 census. I know they got married at St Mary's The Virgin Cathedral in Blackburn, but which film would I order? If someone can help in some way, it would be great. I will order the marriage Certificate, but I do not think it will tell me where George was born, which I need to know to find his family. I am hoping a kind person can help me, Maybe I should think of purchasing the census myself for 1851, but then how do you go about that? Thanking you all for a great list. My best wishes, Pat in Australia.

    2. Peter Shearan
    3. Dear Joan in Devon As the holder of a large part of the Hesmondhalgh (whichever way it happens to be spelt - there are plenty of variations!) I find it very difficult to be absolutely sure about relationships that far back. However - I take you mean it was John's marriage to Ellen (Elling) Seed that you have discovered? I have not found a marriage of an Ellen Hesmondhalgh on that date, although one married William Greenalls (Greenhalgh?) in 1686/7. There are no Ellens at all on my list until the first one appears in 1716: at that point she married Thomas Seed. If that were she, then could Thomas have been her mother's relation? There are three male children born to John H: two baptised in Blackburn (David & George) and on born in Alston (part of Ribchester parish) named John who died as an infant. All HESMONDHALGHs originate in Ribchester - records as far back as 1331 have the name, but no birth etc details. Perhaps you knew that? All a bit tenuous, but its as far as I can go ... Regards Peter You said: Hello, I am looking for the baptism of Ellen HESMONDHALGH or HESMINHALGH about 1696. She was married at Ribchester and although I found a marriage for John HESMINHALGH at Ribchester in 1689 I have not found any children for him until 1702. Ellen must have been baptised elsewhere but where. I have looked on the IGI and I have the registers for Great Mitton. Can anyone help me with this one please. 3. Dear Listers, This is my first try on this mailing list. I have just found out that I have an ancestor who was tried at Lancaster Castle county court in 1821 and transported to Australia for seven years. John Cunningham was only about eighteen and was tried for Larceny. Where would the court records be kept and how does one go about reading them? This is the first time a convict has been found on the family tree and I haven't the first idea on how to research him. Help please. Jeannette from NZ
