On large lists like LancsGen, "roll calls" can do as much damage as good. Approximately 100 subscribers (that's 1/10th of the whole group) unsubbed or bounced off LancsGen since the roll call began, and my InBox was flooded with complaints about the posts, especially about the lack of good subject lines and paltry info included in the messages. More proof that you can't please all the people all the time. Everyone is always welcome and, in fact, encouraged in the Welcome Message to post their Wigan interests. So yes, please, DO post them. Try to use good subject lines -- SURNAME(s), date(s), location(s) -- so that we and anyone browsing or searching the archives will have an idea of the content of your message. "Roll call" in a subject line doesn't really tell anyone much of anything. This is the Wigan mailing list, so please be sure your posts relate to Wigan ancestors. With thanks and best wishes, Lynne
