Is anyone researching Henry Ashurst born 11th May baptized 30th May at St.Thomas' Ashton son of John Ashurst. Henry's sister Jane was baptized at the same time (not sure if they are twins or just baptized on the same day) Henry was a cotton weaver and enlisted in the 9th Foot Regiment on the 14th May 1820 at Liverpool. He served in the Army for 21 years. He was married to Mary Marr on the 27th January 1835 and then embarked for India. After he was discharged he joined the Royal New Zealand Fencibles and arrived in New Zealand with his wife and child on the Minerva on the 8th October 1847. He died in NZ. Ruth Alexander New Zealand
