Hi Billie, I too doubt we link but you never know! Did you know that there is a SIMM/PILKINGTON link in Standish/Aspull? Not mine, as far as I know, but my HIGHAMS were of Aspull and I have a very long-standing brick wall on my PILKINGTONS. Here's a brief outline of my HIGHAMS: Robert Higham, b abt 1850 in Leyland marr. Margaret Leigh, St. David's, Aspull in 1871 Frances Alice marr. Benjamin Haydock 1890 John Thomas marr. Alice Ellen Haydock 1893 Edward marr. Margaret Alice Seddon 1897 Catherine Leigh marr. James Settle 1898 On the 1881 Census, they also had a son, Robert, age 2 mos. As Robert was age 6 in 1891, I suspect the first child died. Robert & Clara Higham had a son, Robert in 1905. Possibly Robert & Margaret's son? Edward & Margaret had the following children: John, Maud, Robert, Alfred, John, Edna & Margaret. Margaret was the daughter of John & Mary A. Seddon. Siblings were: Thomas, William, James & Selina who marr. Samuel Yates in 1899. I don't have much on my ASCROFTS/ASHCROFTS! Henry Ascroft & Ellen Davies were married in 1853. Neither named their father on the marriage certificate but in a later marriage, Ellen did name her father. So, my thoughts are that Henry was illegitimate and for this reason, she didn't name her father. Daughter, Ann, marr. David Stanley in 1873 (named spelled Ashcroft on marr. cert.) and daughter, Elizabeth marr. Thomas Moss in 1879. Ellen Ascroft of Pemberton had a son Henry in 1829. I think this is Ellen in 1851: George Atherton, 61, wheelwright, b Pemb., Ellen Atherton, 62, b Dalton, Henry Ascroft, son, 21, wheelwright, b Pemb & James Ascroft, 17, collier's drawer, b Pemb. As Ellen was born in Dalton, perhaps she was the daughter of Henry, baptised at Upholland in 1786. A Mary Ascroft of Aspull also had a son Henry in 1831. This is as far as I've gotten! If you come across a possible link to my lot, please let me know. Good luck with your search, Karen
