    3. Hello Judith, Saw your letter and being an old soldier with an interest in the 1914-18 war - thought I would have a look on the website Commonwealth War Graves Commision. If you go into Google and write in C. W. G. C., you will see a form to fill in. Enter the surname Enion - I found there to be only one by that name:Enion S.E. Rank: Gunner 162241, Date of Death 08/05/1917 Age: unknown. Royal Field Artillery. Nationality: United Kingdom, Grave 11.A.12. Bois-Carre, British Cemetary, Thelus. I then change the first letter to read: Onions and found: James Wisdom Onions, Private, West Yorshire Regiment, Son of Mr & Mrs George Onions, of : 4, Grasmere Rd, Armley, Leeds - Not far from Wortley (Interesting don't you think?). James is buried along with 11,000 more British and Commonwealth Soldiers, at Tyne Cot Cemetary -The Battle for Pashendale. I and my brother were there just year. Would suggest you go into your local churches and have a look at the Great War Dead Memorials also visit the Village War Memorials - lots of names which may have the Enion connection. Good hunting!. Bertie Eden. My surname varies sometimes Eden - Eaden!!!! ----- Original Message ----- .
