I thought the list might like to know that the funeral took place today of the Reverend Canon Kenneth Malcolm Forrest who was Rector of Wigan for 28 years and priest at Wigan Parish Church. Although he retired a few years ago, he was still very much in people's thoughts, and lived not too far away in Standish. The Requiem was held at Wigan Parish Church and it was quite literally standing room only as many of the townspeople attended, along with the Mayor, the Council Leader Lord Smith of Leigh, and the Bishop of Warrington. There was a 10 bell muffled ringing session before the funeral (the bells at this church are among the best in the country) and the church was beautiful. If you have ancestors from Wigan and have never visited the church, it's hard to describe how lovely a place it is, and today it did Malcolm proud. If you can, please spend a few moments to think or pray for Malcolm, who was without doubt one of the kindest people I've ever met. Maggie
