Margaret There is a lot of information that might help that you have not told us: When did Henry & Elizabeth marry? What was his father's occupation on the M.Cert? What was Elizabeth's father's name & occupation? Where was Elizabeth in 1871 when Henry is apparently an unmarried soldier at Aldershot? In 1871 the birthplace Wardley looks like a mistranscription. It actually appears to be Hendley (if you have the census image compare the H with the H in Hereford, the first e with the e in Sheffield (first line) and the n with the n in Lancaster. So if Siddon=Seddon, and Hendley is probably Hindley, which is in Wigan district, whereas Wardley is in Salford. Regards Peter Wood
