John Sharples (date unknown) Six children: * Hugh 1843 (John is listed as father on the certificate) * John William 1856 (My gg grandfather - no father on the certificate) * Merrick 1861 (James Birchall listed as father and then crossed through) * Alice 1852 (no father on the certificate) * Margaret 1859 (no father on the certificate) * Elizabeth 1863(no father on the certificate) Elizabeth then married Joshua Cowburn in 1873.
