Just adding my interests again Holland - John b 1773 married martha Fairclough in 1803 at All Saints Hindley,Wigan sons: Thomas b 1805 William b 1806 Peter b 1807 all christened All Saints Hindley Wigan Thomas moved to Bradford Yorkshire and married Mary in 1826c. Hi Susan, Thank you for replying. Sarah McGuire was the daughter of Sarah & Robert Cox Hodson of Bilston,Wolverhampton. she was born June 1868. She has two sisters, Elizabeth Ann and Bridget Emily. Her Grandparents were William and Sarah Owen, which is my family name. When Sarah Owen died Sarah Jane McGuire was the informant on her death certificate and gave her address as 149 Ince Green Lane nr. Wigan, this was in November 1922. One thing that puzzles me on these census is that Sarah Jane was born at Bilston not Sedgley. Hi Is anyone looking at any variant of the name McCue? I ask as im finding all sorts of spellings. Im looking at ANDREW MCCUE ETC born 1840 Wigan 1841 finds him as MCCUEN living with his mam Margaret MCCUEN and my William MCMULLEN in Stewart Street Wigan. The penny is finally dropping with me after looking for 2 years and seeing no connection between McCUES and MCMULLENS. I believe Andrews mam Margaret was Margaret MCMULLEN who married James MCCUE 1839. The marriage record on various sites shows James name to be MCSTONE and other variants but on looking at the cert (I bought a few varius mcmullen certs in the hope they would one day help) it could very well be a variant of MCCUE, Ive sent for Andrews birth cert to further verify. Andrew had loads of kids, he was a blacksmith and lived Wigan, Ince and Hindley so im hoping someone is looking at this family, or indeed any one who could be related. The FAB thing is that Margaret gives her village in Ireland on 1851 census when she and the kids were in Wigan workouse- so Im getting VERY excited- understatement of the year. Hi Nancye So glad I could help you. If you have the marriage cert. can you tell me the father's name of Sarah? Might be able to trace her too. Then you have 2 more census' 1851 and 1841 with the McGUIRE family. Was it a typo you wrote Edward John and not John Edward? Did you see that John Edward's father was born in Manchester? That's why they probably moved or could have been the work. My Great Grandfather worked in the Iron Works in Ince-in-Makerfield, he sadly died at 24yrs leaving his wife, 18mth daughter and my grandad who was 3mths old.
