    3. The earliest Winstanley I have is Thomas Winstanley, born approximately 1811, married to Mary, unknown last name and they had 8 children. I'm interested, if at all possible, finding out where else I could check besides census records to find out who Thomas's father may have been and of course, information on his children, aside from Jeremiah who is my husband's family's direct line. I'm also interested in finding out where I could write to for marriage and baptismal records as well. Basically, I am looking for contact information so that I can continue my research. I've reached a dead end as to who I need to contact to get the records I mentioned. What I have already is out at http://b-gwinsco.com/descendants_of_thomas_winstanley.htm Thanks Gail Alpha wrote: > Who exactly are you looking for and about what date???? > Marriage? > Birth? > Name??? > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "MG Winstanley" <genealogy@b-gwinsco.com> > To: <eng-lan-wigan@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, September 09, 2007 10:45 PM > Subject: Re: [WIGAN] ENG-LAN-WIGAN-Roll Call > > > >> Hi Paul >> >> And thank you for the welcome. 3. Hi Paul And thank you for the welcome. Sorry about the phrasing, looking back at it I realize it was rather convoluted. I am looking to go back further than 1811 for the Winstanleys. I've got everything from immigration forward fairly well documented. The Thomas (father) and Jeremiah (son) who immigrated in 1904 were my husband's grandfather and great-grandfather. They settled in Johnstown PA and with the exception of my husband's grandfather who retired to Florida and passed away there, the rest of the family stayed in Johnstown or immediate area and are buried there as well. I've been fortunate enough to find the ship's manifest that lists them as passengers and my husband's aunt has her father's naturalization certificate. So what are you hoping to do, or what are you seeking help on ? It's not clear from the way you've phrased your message ! Are you looking to go back before 1811, or is it the emigration that has left you with a brick wall ? I certainly have a problem with a coal mining ancestor going to the US or Canada in 1907, and seemingly disappearing from the face of the earth. There appear to have been a good many "assisted passage" schemes around in the early 1900's, often with places such as Fernie and Cape Breton as the eventual destination. Best wishes. Paul

    2. Dorothy Thomas
    3. Hello, I'm a new subscriber and would like to list my interests. I am a descendant of Jenny or Jane Fairhurst who married Peter Hollingsworth in 1791 in Wigan. Their son, also Peter Hollingsworth, went to India with the East India Company and he is my 3rd G-Grandfather. Peter's grandparents were Peter Hollingsworth and Frances Broster who married in 1767 in Wigan. Unfortunately I don't have anything on the Broster line - can't seem to find them in Wigan in that time period. Jenny or Jane Fairhurst is the daughter of Richard Fairhurst and Elizabeth Atherton who married in 1766 in Wigan. I have several generations back on both of these lines. If anyone has any info on the Broster line or if I can help anyone with any information that I have I would be interested to hear from you. Thank you.
