    3. Hello folks, My 3d-great grandmother Maria WOODS was born in 1791 in Warrington. Her father was said to be a surgeon, first name unknown. Her mother (possibly named Margaret) was said to have died in Tuam, Ireland, in 1799. It seems that Maria had a stepfather named Sergeant GREENHALL (I suspect that's GREENHALGH), who brought her to Canada circa 1803. The fat of the stepfather implies that Maria's father died and her mother remarried sometime between 1791 and 1799. I have Maria's life in Canada closely documented, but I have been stumped on finding anything substantive about her life or her parents in Warrington. The information above comes from an annotation made in a book of religious essays found by my late great-uncle as he dug around in an ancestral attic in the mid-1970s. Any clues to WOODS or GREENHALL/GREENHALGH during the 1790s in Warrington will be appreciated. Donna Dinberg Ottawa, Ontario, Canada blacknus@rogers.com
