Neil, I remember Catherine Street quite well having lived on Bewsey Road as a child in the post-war period, but sadly not in enough detail to remember specifics. I can confirm however, that it was indeed one continuous street extending from Bewsey Road to the main LMS railway line which formed a ‘dead end’ to the street. Incidentally, the street name was pronounced locally as ‘Cathrine’ with the ‘ine’ as in ‘nine’. I have a 1964 aerial photo of the ‘Greenings’ works on Bewsey Road, which shows the intersection of Catherine Street as it was, with the terraced houses, but not as far down as number 77.
