You need to watch out for alternative spellings of Thomson. I have a James Thomason in my father's maternal lineage in Warrington, and I know that there were variant spellings of the family name. I have found an Ann Monks married to either a Denis Myers or a John Wadden - Mar 1872 Warrington Vol 8c page 197. I suggest trying the Lancashire BMD site and see if the marriage can be found there.
